Remote working abroad – pros and cons

    7.8.2022 /

Hi you! Here it finally comes, the last post related to my Algarve trip. This time I will write from the perspective of remote working abroad. After spending three months working from Portugal, I got to see both the positive and “negative” (I wouldn’t like to use the word negative, because those negatives for me are more like realities to keep in mind) about this kind of a working arrangement. For sure remote or hybrid working is the new normal for many people, but for me this was the first time going that far and staying in another country working. So let’s start! I’ll start with the negatives or let’s…

    Portugal – expectations vs. reality

    1.8.2022 /

Hi all! Finally it is time to review our Portugal trip and see, whether my expectations were met or not. Before our trip, I wrote this post about my expectations towards this trip. In case you missed the post, go ahead and read it now! I had visited Portugal once before, and I mainly formed my expectations based on that visit back in 2019. I wrote about the weather, activities and daily life, cost of living, food and finally about the culture, language and people. In this post I will go through all these categories and summarize, how the expectations were actually met. This is a nice review for me…

What to see in the Algarve? – part 3

    29.5.2022 /

Hi all, Long time no post! Again, a lot has happened after my latest post. I posted the second part of my Algarve recommendations already 2 months ago, and I need to say that my initial plan of posting on a bi-weekly basis turned out to be really unrealistic and I just couldn’t do it in the middle of everything else that has been ongoing in my life. Due to the fact that I want to keep my blog as authentic and real as possible as well as wanting to keep this a fun, stress-free hobby for me, I haven’t forced myself for writing at all, which is now the…

What to see in the Algarve? – part 2

    20.3.2022 /

Hi there! As promised, I am back with the second part of my Algarve recommendations. Today I’m going to take you to Loulé, Olhão, Vale do Lobo and Carvoeiro. Hope you enjoy! PS. As I am writing this, there is a thunderstorm outside. We were lucky and had an exceptional January and February, as it was not raining at all and the temperature hit 20-22 celcius degrees for many days, but now in March the weather has completely changed; it is raining a lot and temperatures stay under 20 degrees! Hopefully we can still enjoy some sunny days before heading back to Finland (which by the way is already in…

What to see in the Algarve? – part 1

    26.2.2022 /

Hi there! Weeks have passed by, and I noticed I haven’t written any posts during February. My initial plan was to write on a weekly or even bi-weekly basis, but honestly I have had very busy times at work, staring the laptop screen around 9 hours a day, and as you might guess, I wanted to enjoy the rest of my hours of the day offline and outside, especially now when I am here in Portugal. This month has gone by very fast, much faster than January, but I still feel very grateful to be able to spend one more month in here before heading back to Finland. Before going…

Algarve after three weeks – how does it actually feel like living here?

    23.1.2022 /

Hi there, Three weeks have gone by here in Portugal, but honestly speaking, it already feels that I have been here for way longer. As things have become more and more familiar, this place really feels like home. In this post, I am going to share my honest feelings on how things have gone so far, and what it actually feels like spending winter time in Algarve. First, let me start with some positive stuff. I couldn’t be happier that we chose this apartment among many choices, as there is still nothing to complain and all is working more than fine in our apartment! Quarteira as a location turned out…

    Winter getaway

    27.11.2021 /

Hello there, One of the main reasons to start this blog was to have a channel where to collect and share memories about my winter getaway in Portugal beginning of 2022. In this post, I am going to explain my relationship with Portugal, the background about the trip and the reasons behind choosing Portugal among other countries. First of all, I love traveling. Already as a child, we travelled a lot with my family, mainly in Europe. Spain was one of our top destinations besides France, and I truly enjoyed our vacations there. My first trip to Portugal took place during my exchange year in France, Bordeaux in 2018-2019. During…
